The Yiddish word for Christmas is "Nitl."

Although Jews celebrate Hanukkah, we still purchase Christmas gifts for our "dokter" (doctor), "kosmetiker" (beautician), "sherer" (barber), "tsaytung" (newspaper) delivery person, "dinst" (maid), " tirman" (doorman), "shokhente"/"shokhn" (female/male neighbor), and "kindhayt fraynd" (childhood friend).
