basketball Basketball (NBA):
Gal Mekel scored 2 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and dished off 3 assists in 21 minutes of playing time as the Dallas Mavericks beat Memphis 108-103 on Oct. 20. On Oct. 23, Mekel was in the starting lineup and he led the team in points (17), assists (8), and minutes played (42). He also grabbed 2 rebounds in that game, but the Mavs lost to New Orleans 85-88. On Oct. 24, he was used only sparingly, scoring 2 points, grabbing 2 rebounds, and dishing off 2 assists in 7 minutes, off the bench, as Dallas defeated Orlando, 117-92.
bowling Women's Collegiate Ten pin Bowling:
The Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights are projected to finish first in the NEC this season, bolstered by Senior Liat Vizenfeld, the first female Israeli bowler to earn an American college bowling scholarship. Last season she led the Knights with a 209.57 average, with a high score of 265. Liat rolled 41 games over 200 last season. She also excelled in the classroom, and was named NEC 2013-14 Scholar-Athlete for Women's Bowling and also first team NTCA All-Academic Team achieveing a GPA over 3.75. The Knights were ranked #7 in the NTCA pre-season poll.
nhl Hockey (NHL):
Mike Cammalleri has 7 points (5 goals and 2 assists) in 7 games for the NJ Devils thus far this season. Eric Nystrom has 4 points (2 goals and 2 assists) for the Nashville Predators. Jason Zucker has 2 goals in 4 contests for the Minnesota Wild. Mike Brown, of the San Jose Sharks, was scoreless in the two games he played this season before being sidelined with a hand injury. ahl (AHL):
It took Binghamton Senators' Carter Camper 5 games to find the net, and he scored a goal in his team's overtime 3-2 win over the St. John's Ice Caps on Oct. 22.
