Basketball (NBA):

Shawn Dawson is playing for the Washington Wizards in the NBA Summer league in the hopes of becoming the first Jew-of-Color born in Israel to earn a contract to play in the NBA. On July 9, he contributed 6 points in just over 15 minutes of playing time, off the bench, as Washington silenced the Utah Jazz, 88-73. On July 10, he did not play, as Washington lost to the Atlanta Hawks, 80-88. On July 12, Dawson made 4-of-5 field goals, scoring 9 points in just over 15 and a half minutes, to help Washington edge the Brooklyn Nets, 87-85. On July 14, he mustered just 2 points in 15:12 as Washington beat Atlanta, 71-60. On July 16, the Wizards lost to the Chicago Bulls, 85-88. Shawn Dawson scored 2 points in just over 10 minutes of playing time, off the bench.

Women's Golf (LPGA):

Morgan Pressel shot a 67 in the 4th round and was tied for 33rd place in the Cambia Portland Classic. She had her worst round of the year--an 81--in the 4th round of the US Women's Open, and finished in 71st place. Pressel has made the cut in 13 of 16 events she has played this year, averaging 72.12 per round for 57 rounds. Her best round in 2016 was a 63 at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship the 3rd week of June. Pressel has earned $336,687 thus far in 2016.

Soccer/Football:

Eran Zahavi, an Israeli midfielder who recently signed a 2 1/2 year 12 million dollar deal to play for Guangzhou R & F in the Chinese league, has gotten off to an excellent start. He scored a goal in his debut with Guangzhou. He did not score in the second game, but scored 3 goals in a 19-minute span in the quarter finals in cup competition. On July 16, Zahavi scored a pair of goals, including the winning-goal with a minute on the game clock, to help his team defeat Tianjin Teda 3-2. At this rate, he'll put both Israel and China on the World-wide soccer map before long.

Tennis (ATP):

Dudi Sela is currently ranked 65th in the World. He has a 7-12 won-loss record in singles and a 4-3 won-loss record in doubles this year, and he has won one doubles title in 2016. Sela has combined earnings of $279,156 as of the middle of July.

Milestones:

On July 14, PBA bowling Hall of Famer Barry Asher celebrated his 70th birthday. Asher won 10 PBA titles in his career.
On July 16, MLB catcher Norm Sherry celebrated his 85th birthday. Sherry played for the LA Dodgers from 1959--62, and then for the NY Mets in 1963.
