Men's Basketball (NBA)--After two scoreless games, Omri Casspi has found his groove again. On Jan 18, the Israeli forward scored 6 points and grabbed 4 rebounds in Houston's 114-104 victory over Milwaukee. On Jan 22, he scored 15 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in 33 minutes off the bench, as the Rockets soared over Portland, 126--113. And on Jan 22, he had his finest game of the season, scoring 20 points and grabbing 12 rebounds, with a +18 rating, in 33 minutes off the bench, as the Rockets crowned the Sacramento Kings, 119--98.

ball Women's Basketball (Israeli Elite League)--Elitzur Ramle improved their league won-loss record to 11-2 for the season on Jan 20, as they soundly defeated Elitzur Holon, 62-39. In 20 minutes of playing time, Naama Shafir scored 4 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and dished-off 4 assists.
So, perhaps Omri and Naama should play the numbers 4 and 33 in the lottery...
hockey Ice Hockey--The Henrich brothers continue to dominate the action for their team, the Coventry Blaze in the English league (EIHL). Adam has 45 points (13 goals and 32 assists) in 27 games, and Michael has 31 points (9 goals and 22 assists) in 32 games this season. In the AHL, Carter Camper has been a factor for the Providence Bruins with 31 points (8 goals and 23 assists) in 44 games this season. In the NHL, Eric Nystrom has 11 points (7 goals and 4 assists) in 48 games with the Nashville Predators.

Injured list: NBA rookie guard Gal Mekel (Dallas Mavericks) had surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. He was averaging 2.4 points and 2.1 assists in 9.6 minutes per game for 30 games. Mekel will be out of the lineup for at least a month to six weeks. Hockey player Mike Cammalleri was out of commission due to a concussion, but is expected to be playing again on the Calgary Flames' roster soon. He has scored 21 points (13 goals and 8 assists) this season, and is tied with the recently retired Mathieu Schneider with 223 goals, the most scored by a Jewish player in NHL history. Wishing Gal and Mike a refuah shlayma.

Stay tuned, as we count-down to the 2014 Winter Olympics...
