Monday 27 Sh'vat, 5775 - February 16, 2015

Before the round-up, a few ideas:
1) As the month of Adar is fast approaching and Purim is around the corner, for those of you who have Jewish sports stars playing minor league or NHL hockey in your hometown, or are near Sacramento CA, where Omri Casspi plays for the Kings in the NBA, a very nice thing to do would be to give them a mishloach manot goody package. You can give them a couple of items, such as chocolate or some kind of chips, and of course hamentashen. This is a nice way of having the Jewish community connect with these players and helping them to feel more Jewish.

2) There is a totally private organization, One Family fund, which helps terror victims and their families. An idea I had is for individual members of the Jewish community, Hebrew School classes, Temples, or Jewish-owned businesses to donate a small amount each (could be a dime) to One Family fund for each goal scored by a Jewish minor league or NHL player who plays for your local team. Some of the players include: Michael Cammalleri of the NJ Devils, Eric Nystrom of the Nashville Predators, and Carter Camper of the Binghamton Senators, but there are more. All you have to do is Google "Jewish hockey players" and there is a list on Wikipedia, and then follow your local player, and go to the games to cheer for them and their team, and help One Family fund to help terror victims and their families.

3) Please say a prayer for "refuah shlayma" for Minnesota Wild (hockey) player Jason Zucker (his parents names are Natalie and Scott), who recently suffered a broken clavicle and will undergo surgery soon and is expected to be out of action for three months.
