As the cold weather sets in, several Jewish sports stars are having "hot" seasons in their respective sports.
Men's Basketball (NBA)-- In the Houston Rockets' 98-88 victory over the Orlando Magic on Dec. 8, Omri Casspi scored 6 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in 23 minutes of playing time off the bench. The Rockets have a won-loss record of 15-7 this season, and Casspi is averaging 8.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. He is averaging 22 minutes per game for 21 games and has shown improvement in his field goal, three-point and free-throw shooting percentages. In 277 career NBA games, Casspi has scored a total of 2221 points and has grabbed 1088 rebounds.
Women's Basketball-- Elitzur Ramle has won its 7th consecutive game since
the beginning of the season. In their decisive 80-51 victory over Rishon Le
Zion on Dec. 9, Naama Shafir scored 7 points and added 4 rebounds, 5 assists
and 3 steals.
Women's Collegiate Ten pin Bowling-- In the North East Conference meet #2
of the season, Liat Vizenfeld rolled a 236 game and averaged 218 while helping
the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights to a 6-2 won-loss record.
Ice Hockey (NHL)-- Mike Cammalleri has scored 15 points (10 goals and 5
assists) in 23 games for the Calgary Flames this season.
Ice Hockey (Europe)-- Evan Kaufmann has 10 goals and 14 assists in 22
games this season for the Neurmberg Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers in the German
ice hockey league (DEL). With his 24 points, Kaufmann is ranked 3rd on his
team in scoring. He has the highest +/- rating on his team with a +12. Brothers
Adam and Michael Henrich continue to dominate the scoring for the Coventry
Blaze in the British Elite League. In 24 games, Adam is second in
goals with 12, 1st in assists with 27 and 2nd in total points with 39, for the
Blaze. He is also 2nd on the team with 78 penalty minutes. In 28 games,
Michael is 5th in goals scored with 8, 4th in assists with 17, and 4th in total
points with 25.
