Monday 12 Sh'vat 5774 - January 13, 2014

Lots to report on the Jewish sports scene after just two weeks into the new secular year.

Basketball (NBA) On Jan 10, the Houston Rockets were grounded by the Hawks in Atlanta, 80-83, and Omri Casspi was scoreless in just 6 minutes of playing time. The following night, the Rockets soared over the Wizards in Washington 114-107 and Casspi was almost perfect, missing just one shot all night as he scored 14 points in 18 minutes off the bench.

Women's Collegiate Ten pin Bowling--Liat Vizenfeld will be competing with the Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights in the Bowie State Invitational in Laurel, MD on January 17. The Knights have won 72.5% of their games thus far this season.

Women's Figure Skating--Sasha Cohen is poised to pursue another medal as the countdown to the Olympic Games begins...

Ice Hockey--(British Elite League) Brothers Adam and Michael Henrich both came back from injury, and proved they haven't lost their touch. In their first game back for the Coventry Blaze, Adam had one goal and two assists and Michael contributed two assists. David Meckler (Salzburg, Austria) and Evan Kaufmann (Neurmberg, Germany) are continuing to produce for their respective teams. In the AHL, Carter Camper is leading the Providence (RI) Bruins in total points this season. And in the NHL, the Calgary Flames' Mike Cammalleri is still tied with the retired Mathieu Schneider with 223 career goals.
